Philanthropy Manager

Salary: £47,665.98 per annum
Location: Wimborne, Dorset (hybrid working)
Reporting to: Deputy CEO

At Julia's House Children's Hospice, we provide vital care and support for children with life-limiting conditions and their families across Dorset and Wiltshire. Philanthropy plays a crucial role in making that care possible.

We are looking for an experienced high-value fundraiser to lead and grow our philanthropy programme, building strong relationships with major donors, trusts and high-value supporters who want to make a lasting difference.

This is a senior role within our fundraising team, combining strategic leadership with hands-on relationship management. You will work closely with senior leadership to secure transformational gifts and shape the future of philanthropy at Julia's House.

The Role

You will lead the development and delivery of our philanthropy strategy, focusing on securing and growing income from major donors and trusts.

Managing a portfolio of high-value supporters, you will build meaningful relationships that lead to significant gifts and long-term engagement with our work. Alongside this, you will oversee a small specialist team and work with colleagues across the organisation to identify and steward new opportunities for support.

You will also work closely with our senior leadership team to shape and make compelling high-value asks, ensuring supporters feel deeply connected to the impact of their giving.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver a clear strategy for major donors, trusts and high-value supporters
  • Manage and grow a portfolio of high-net-worth individuals and philanthropic partners
  • Secure significant gifts, including five and six figure donations
  • Lead and support a small specialist team within the philanthropy programme
  • Work closely with senior leadership and colleagues across the organisation to develop compelling funding opportunities
  • Oversee income targets, pipeline development and donor stewardship
  • Ensure supporters receive excellent engagement and recognition for their impact

About You

You will be an experienced high-value fundraiser with a strong track record of building relationships and securing significant gifts.

You are confident engaging with senior stakeholders and high-net-worth individuals, and you enjoy translating a powerful mission into compelling philanthropic opportunities.

You may already be leading a philanthropy or major donor programme, or you may be a senior major gifts fundraiser ready to take the next step into a broader strategic role.

We are particularly interested in candidates who bring:

  • Proven experience securing major gifts from individuals and/or trusts
  • A strong track record of managing fundraising pipelines and income targets
  • Excellent relationship-building and communication skills
  • The ability to think strategically while remaining close to supporters
  • Experience of line management, or readiness to step into a team leadership role

Why Join Us

At Julia's House Children's Hospice, philanthropy directly enables the care we provide to families facing the most difficult circumstances.

This is an opportunity to shape and grow a high-value fundraising programme within an organisation where the impact of philanthropy is visible every day.

You will work closely with a supportive senior leadership team and passionate colleagues who are deeply committed to the families we serve.

If you are motivated by building meaningful donor relationships and securing transformational support for an essential cause, we would love to hear from you.
