Full Time, 37.5 hours

Across our Guildford & Hampton sites - Hybrid working

Our client is a well-established charity based in Southern England. They now have an exciting opportunity to join them in the role of Head of Estates & Sustainability. Our client provides specialist care for babies, children and young people with life-threatening conditions throughout Surrey, and across 14 London boroughs and supports their families.

This role offers flexibility to work from our clients' offices in Guildford or in Hampton with regular travel between the two and hybrid working.

If you are a highly organised, motivated and experienced Estates, Maintenance and Facilities manager perhaps with a H&S background or relevant qualification, and with a keen interest in sustainability, and who is interested in working within a very rewarding charity with flexibility for hybrid working our client would love to hear from you.

The role reports to the Director of Finance and Resources and you will be an integral part of the Organisational Management Team and you will manage a Maintenance team of three.

This is a senior role across an estate that encompasses 2 hospice sites and 8 retail locations. You will need to have previous experience in managing projects and audits with an understanding of compliance and risk management. Previous Health & Safety experience and a recognised H&S competent person qualification is desirable (IOSH/NEBOSH).

You should also ideally be able to demonstrate that you have solid experience of estates and maintenance.

You'll be an experienced inspiring individual with strong management and organisational skills and used to managing multiple projects. You will have proven abilities to consult and influence a variety of stakeholders internally and externally and to build credibility as a trusted expert in your field.

Prior experience of developing environmental improvement projects to reduce the charity's carbon emissions will be advantageous.

What will I be responsible for?

  • To lead the Estates & Maintenance activities across all locations - The Hospice, offices, Retail and Sydney Road residential accommodation enabling preventative maintenance, ad hoc repairs and renewal in close liaison with the Heads of care/departments
  • To lead the organisation's carbon neutral journey and sustainability, chairing the Environmental Committee and working with the staff to implement any agreed plans.
  • Delivery of a variety of operational and capital projects
  • Managing estate capital expenditure
  • Leading on Health & Safety.
  • Contract management including utilities, waste management, shop leases etc
