Property, Safety & Sustainability (HSEQ) Manager - Retail
Covering Scotland, Northern England and Wales.
Salary up to £50,000 + Car + Bonus & Benefits

An exceptional opportunity to join a leading multi-faceted retailer in the position of a Property, Safety & Sustainability (HSEQ) Manager has arisen. The Role
Reporting to the Director of Retail Operations you will be responsible for leading and developing our Safety and Sustainability capability and culture while meeting the day-to-day repair & maintenance requirements of the sites in England, North Wales and Scotland. You will also lead on the companies ambitious plans to redevelop some of the sites in the years ahead.


Key Responsibilities


Property

  • To be responsible for the development and implementation of a rolling programme of maintenance cover all sites
  • Ensure through our audit process that regular checks of centres and property are undertaken by managers and appropriate action is taken.
  • Manage required repairs effectively and efficiently to ensure speedy and quality resolutions whist managing company repair and maintenance budget.
  • Manage an annual programme of 'smaller' improvement projects across sites including contractor management and contractor safety.
  • Support the business' ambitious 5-year site redevelopment programme.


Safety

  • As the designated 'competent person' for health and safety you will maintain oversight of all aspects of Safety across the business.
  • Review and development the company's Safety Management System through the design and implementation of relevant policies, procedures and processes concerning Health and Safety (including risk/emergency management).
  • Along with the Profit Protection Manager, lead on the review and management of Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity.
  • Promote and monitor safe working practices across the business, analysing incident and near miss data to provide regular reporting and recommendations to the business and senior team.
  • Chair the company's Safety Group, preparing content, activities, and programme initiatives.
  • Work closely with our insurers to progress recommended improvements and reduce risk.
  • Actively monitor developments and changes in legislation in respect of health and safety requirements and advise on appropriate action as required.


Sustainability

  • Lead on the company's sustainability / green strategy, ensuring best practice of energy conservation in the use of heating, light, water etc. is developed and maintained.
  • Develop and deliver sustainability improvements across suitable sites
  • Develop and implement strategy for the consistent and efficient reduction and disposal of waste across all sites.


The ideal Candidate:

  • Minimum of NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent
  • Working knowledge of ISO standards for Health & Safety, Quality and Environmental Management
  • A leader with strong communication skills (both written and oral)
  • Experienced in retail, warehousing and commercial property development
