Laboratory Technician / Chemist (Fuel)
24-28k + bonus and benefits including fuel allowance

Our client is a small company based in Shrewsbury with 30 years' experience in treating microbial degradation of fuels. We are looking for a candidate to assist our client with a new project developing fuel biocide chemistries for use in jet fuels amongst other analytical fuels work.

The ideal candidate is expected to have a chemical or chemical engineering background, knowledge of fuels (ideally jet fuels) and capability to perform laboratory work as well as paper-based research work.

If the project is successful, the candidate will be expected to represent our client on IATA technical fuels group & the Energy Institute, working alongside OEM's including Airbus, Boeing, G.E. & Rolls Royce, eventually travelling globally presenting at technical forums and committees.

The candidate will also perform research into biocide legislation and work with external consultants to establish conformance to all U.K. & E.U. laws. Other areas of work include fuel sample testing to IP & ASTM methods, investigations into fuel contamination, site visits around Europe and developing our clients laboratory.

This role will include:

· 3 days/week in Shrewsbury with remainder from home
· 1/2 days lab work a week with 3/4 days doing reports, research etc
· Travel abroad for work (worldwide)

The candidate will ideally be located in the West Midlands area and we are looking for a suitable ambitious chemist to build a long-term career.

This is a fantastic opportunity - Salary will be up to £28,000 plus potential £2000 annual bonus. Our client will also provide a fuel allowance to help with your travel.
