Finance Manager

Leading Shropshire Hotel

Shrewsbury

Up to £35,000 per annum

Our valued client, a leading hotel brand is looking for an experienced Finance Manager to join their team in Shrewsbury. This is a fantastic opportunity to join an established 80+ room hotel that boasts conference and meeting rooms, bar and lounge and a recently refurbished leisure and spa area.

As the Finance Manager, you will report directly to the General Manager and the ideal candidate would have a proven track record within a similar hotel environment and the responsibilities that go with this.

Areas of Responsibilities include:

Customer Service:

  • To ensure the hotel telephone system is answered as per company standard, ensuring that all messages are correctly handled and processed immediately.
  • To open and distribute the incoming post and ensure that the outgoing post is sent out daily.
  • To assist with any area of the business, as required.

Finance & Accounting

  • To be fully aware of the hotel's cash handling and credit procedures.
  • Complete the daily business done spreadsheet.
  • To reconcile the hotel banking ready for collection.
  • To complete the daily income audit.
  • To manage the purchase ledger.
  • To manage the sales ledger.
  • To process monthly payroll.
  • To assist with stock taking process for food and liquor.
  • To compile all month end information.

Personnel & Training

  • To ensure good working relationships with colleagues in all hotel departments.
  • Attend training when required.
  • Ensure you adhere to policy and procedures as set out in the staff handbook and SOP Manual.
  • Ensure that during the time you are on duty you comply with company requirements in respect of personal conduct and behaviour.
  • Attend appraisals as agreed with your General Manager.
  • To support and carry out training for all appropriate team members in Finance procedures.

General / Auditing

  • Work to the exigencies of the business, involving the working of unsociable hours.
  • Attendance as required on company courses and at meetings necessitating possible absence from home for which advance notice will normally be given.
  • Ensure reports, returns and any other documentation required is completed accurately and timeously.
  • Ensure all audit procedures are adhered to.
