Arguably Tesco’s biggest rivals, Sainsbury’s however reported a rise of 2.1% on like for like sales for the last quarter of 2011. Retail Recruitment News

Four retail companies filed for administration over the festive period and new research suggests that more could follow in the weeks ahead as the pressure finally caves in on those companies under the most financial stress in 2011.

Thousands of retail jobs are set to be lost following the respective decisions by lingerie chain La Senza, entertainment retailer Hawkins Bazaar, clothing trader D2 Jeans and retail gift specialist Past Times to call in the administrators, and UK corporate insolvencies are predicted to rise in 2012.

Earlier this week Topshop announced the opening of a new flagship store in Lakeside Shopping Centre, this has been followed up today however with reports by Arcadia Group owner Philip Green that there will be a large number of store closures in 2012.
In a statment given today he has reportedly blamed inflation and… the warm autumn weather!!??
It would seem strange a retailer of Topshops size and experience couldn’t adjust it’s stock to cope with a slight change in the expected weather conditions. See the link below to Channel 4 News website for a full report.

Whether you’re in retail or hospitality, management or head office, a career path open to you is retail recruitment consultancy. If you’ve got drive, determination and the right skill set then becoming a Retail Recruitment consultant could be the career for you.
Being in Retail Recruitment can be an exciting and fulfilling career that can be very lucrative if you have the right attitude. But that’s a big if…make sure you look before you leap.
What does a retail recruitment consultant do?
Sounds like a stupid question doesn’t it, but there are a lot of misconceptions about what a retail recruitment consultant is and does, so let’s clear it up: they sell. Of course the principal commodity you’re selling is people: you’re there to find candidates for client companies. There are many processes involved and skills required but when you boil it right down it’s about selling: selling companies on your ability to find the right people; selling companies on the candidates you have put forward; selling candidates on the merits of companies for which you’re recruiting…you get the idea. Headhunting, cold-calling, negotiating on fees, closing deals, each of these key activities require accomplished selling skills. So if you are not prepared to do the above, this isn’t a career for you.
How do Retail Recruitment Consultants earn their money?
It’s pretty simple really; retail recruitment consultants make their money by earning commission from placing candidates into client companies – commissions typically based on the starting salary of the candidate. Retail Recruitment consultants do of course earn basic salaries but it’s in the commission where the serious cheddar of the successful consultant can be earned. And make no mistake, if you’re good at this game you’re going to earn some decent old wonga.

C2 Recruitment was given the full REC Audit last Friday at their Shrewsbury offices.

A company that is REC Audited means it has undergone a robust audit package that validates compliance with the Employment Agencies Act and Conduct Regulations 2003 and REC Code of Professional Practice. The REC team of professional auditors conducts a thorough audit of the business, going through various areas of compliance

Shane Hawkins, Managing Director of C2 Recruitment said: “We are committed to delivering the very best service to our clients and the REC audit demonstrates that commitment.

“The audit was very intense and examined a range of areas. The full audit is used as a tool to ensure that our agency is legal and compliant and also checks our practices. I am pleased to announce that C2 Recruitment passed first time, with flying colours.

The REC advises both jobseekers and companies who purchase recruitment solutions to look for the REC audited logo, the logo is confirmation that an independent assessment to the highest possible standards has been carried out.

Going against expected growth figures The REC announced today that figures for the UK’s Recruitment Industry have shown a 25% growth.

While the economy is still unstable and employment numbers are not showing any real improvement it’s seems surprising that the Recruitment industry should be fighting back. Initial suggestions put it down to the industries resilience but it may also be that companies are more aware of the long term damage and costs of bad employment and are using Recruitment Agencies to ensure they get the very best candidates with the most relevant experience. Using a specialist agency, whether it’s a IT Recruitment or a Retail Recruitment specialist etc, the knowledge, skills and resources they offer take a lot of the risk out of employment.
