Shane Hawkins, Managing Director
I started my retail career in 1994 as a temporary employee with Toys R Us setting up their Shrewsbury store. 6 months later I promoted to Supervisor and soon after was selected to join the company management training programme. I went on to spend nearly 9 years with Toys R Us progressing to Store Manager. Seeking a fresh new challenge, I then joined Tesco as a Senior Manager and spent 4 years working in Superstores North before moving into recruitment where I joined a leading fashion and retail consultancy in Birmingham.
I set up C2 Recruitment in June 2008 and since then we have enjoyed rapid expansion primarily on the back of strong recommendations. All of our team have either worked in retail or have recruited in retail and this makes us different to our competitors. We understand what it’s like to work in the industry and this helps us get the right candidates for our clients.
Our successes have led us to become a leading consultancy in the retail recruitment market and we are the preferred choice for some of the biggest brands in Europe. Our vision is simple. We don’t want to be the biggest but we do want to be the best and we will achieve this by hard work and delivering on our promises.
Helen Pickersgill, Head Of UK Operations
I have worked in retail recruitment for 8 years, starting my career with a leading retail recruitment company progressing up to Divisional Manager for the Midlands regional office before joining C2 to assist in the development and growth of the business. I have built up an excellent reputation in the industry based on my high expectations for both myself and my teams to deliver the very best service in the industry.
Prior to recruitment I worked in the retail and hospitality industry for nearly 10 years in various roles including Store Management.
I joined C2 Recruitment because of it's goal "to become the leading retail and hospitality recruitment company in the UK" and I believe the service we deliver and the people we have in our business can help us to achieve this goal.

Amanda Tonks, Business Support Manager
Having worked in Retail Recruitment for over 8 years, I started as a Trainee Recruitment Consultant and developed my experience to become Head Of Division for the Midlands for a leading fashion and retail consultancy. I joined C2 Recruitment as I had worked with Shane previously and was excited at the prospects of his business and the clear direction he had for C2 Recruitment.
C2 has always been clear about its vision and its values as a business: ensuring our commitment to both client and candidate satisfaction to be our number one priority. I am extremely proud to work for such an evolving business and I truly love my role as Commercial Manager: it allows me to focus on client satisfaction and continue to develop a business that clients want to work with and consultants want to work within.
Prior to working in Recruitment; I worked in retail management for Companies such as House Of Fraser and Oasis and I developed a real passion for fashion retail. I always worked in retail whilst studying my Business Management degree and I decided to pursue my career in Fashion management, it was something I was extremely passionate about and where my strength lies.
In fact, It was through a fantastic experience with a Fashion Recruiter that I secured my first management position and which made me focus my career into recruitment.

Alec Kerwin, Sales & Service Manager
I joined C2 In December 2016 as Sales and Service Manager. My prior background - 10 years in leisure management - has allowed me to build a transferable skills set has helped me make the transformation in to recruitment. As a people person I am able to build up strong relationships with both candidates ands clients.
I had worked with C2 previously and was excited for the opportunity to be part of an ambitious growing company with such a fantastic culture. The best thing about C2 is the fact that we all have experience in the areas we recruit in and I think that sets us apart from many of our competitors. In my spare time I like to spend time with my family and I love to play football and Golf.
Vicky Adams, National Accounts Manager
I joined C2 Retail Recruitment to focus on building and maintaining both current and new client relationships ensuring the business provides outstanding support to our clients.
I have helped to build up business within our General Retail, Luxury, Hospitality and Head Office divisions and no two days are ever the same!
Before C2 I worked as a recruitment co-ordinator and prior to this I worked with both Monsoon/Accessorize and The Perfume Shop.
In my spare time I like to spend time with my family and I love to shop!
Russ Thelwell, Senior Managing Consultant
I joined C2 at the beginning of 2013 and because of my background work in the hospitality division. I work with leading restaurant and leisure brands right across the UK and really enjoy my job.
My prior background working in the industry has helped me make the transformation in to recruitment. I am able to build up strong relationships with both candidates ands clients, as I have management experience in the hospitality sector working for the likes of Punch Taverns and Powerleague 5's.

John Anderson, Managing Consultant
I joined C2 to head up our Corporate and Head Office practice, focusing on key head office functions such as E-Commerce, Marketing, Buying, Merchandising, Human Resources and Finance.
Prior to joining C2 I spent over 12 years in The City recruiting for a wide range of FTSE100, Professional Services, Financial Services and Public Sector clients. Over this time I set up and managed the Interim Management division for Frazer Jones a specialists HR recruiter, was Head of Division for Macmillan Davies Hodes, a Director with a small boutique recruiter in Mayfair and latterly having relocated was Head of Fashion, Luxury and Retail Recruitment for a Midlands based recruitment firm.
I have worked with a wide range of clients in the corporate, financial services, professional services and more recently retail sectors. Clients I have previously recruited for include Burberry, Marks and Spencer, Harrods, Liberty and Poundland amongst others.
Kelly Swancott, Managing Consultant
I joined C2 as I had a keen interest in recruitment and it allowed me the opportunity to recruit within an industry that I have a passion for. I had heard about C2 previously and was excited for the opportunity to be part of a growing company with such a fantastic company culture.
Prior to C2, I worked in the Hospitality industry as an Assistant Manager for Greene King and as a General Manager for an independent restaurant. I believe that my experience in the industry gives me an advantage when recruiting for my clients.
In my spare time I enjoy going to the cinema, dining out with friends and playing poker.
Andrew Kearns, Recruitment Consultant
Before C2 I had spent my career in retail, proving my self as a successful Department and Store Manager representing brands such as Paul Smith, Armani, Ralph Lauren and Selfridges & Co. My previous roles have exposed me to many recruitment processes and experiences which have led me to join a successful retail recruitment company working with brands and clients I am passionate about.
In my spare time I enjoy learning Spanish, cycling and tempering my football addiction. Of course I also love spending quality time with friends and family.
Ryan Cowdell – Recruitment Consultant
I have worked in hospitality management for 10 years, working with some of the biggest names in the industry such as Whitbread and SSP UK. This has helped me gain an extensive knowledge of the sector and understand what it takes to become a successful manager which I feel really benefited me moving into recruitment.
Since joining C2 Recruitment in 2017, I have worked within the hospitality division; sourcing only the very best talent for our wide range of clients. In my spare time I spend a lot of time with my family and friends, travelling and going to the gym.
Jonathan Wells, Senior Recruitment Consultant
I joined C2 Recruitment in March 2017 as a Senior Recruitment Consultant. My previous work experience was as a Business Manager within the retail automotive sector for 12 years, and then as a recruitment consultant in generalist engineering.
I was attracted to working at C2 because of the passion that my colleagues have for the sectors they recruit in. Everyone here is an expert in their sector, having previously had first hand experience of working in the area they recruit for. This is our USP and I believe this sets us apart from any other recruitment company; as ex-employees we have a much deeper understanding of the roles and of our clients needs and expectations.

I am looking forward to developing relationships with motor dealerships up and down the country and helping them find the right people to join their companies. I am also working in the service industry recruiting engineers for white goods and vending/coffee machines.
For relaxation I enjoy F1,cooking , DIY and travel and I love spending time with my family and friends. I dislike gardening and waking up early at the weekend!
